We live in an era saturated with talk about “who I am,” yet there are very few analysis tools that help us understand how we decide, how we act, and what makes us tip when the stakes rise. EPIC PERSONA® was designed to make these mechanisms visible—and usable.

1) Our premise: the sociology of organizations as the source of our thinking

Most tests on the market do three things: they describe you (“you tend to…”), reassure you (“empathetic, creative…”), then give you generic advice. Epic Persona® offers something different: it surfaces how you make tradeoffs—and how you move into action.

Personality tests often stick a label on you. EPIC PERSONA® is not a personality test. It is a narrative, strategy-oriented assessment tool designed to analyze individual and collective action logics.

Why? Because identity alone doesn’t explain real-world action. In real life, we never decide in a vacuum: we act within systems (a company, a family, a collective), with constraints, objectives, rules (sometimes unclear), and a lot of the implicit. EPIC PERSONA® starts from a simple idea: difficulties often come less from individuals than from the system.

Concretely, what creates friction almost always comes down to:

  • Unclear roles (“Who decides what?”)
  • Incompatible ways of operating (“We don’t move at the same pace / We don’t use the same criteria”)
  • Unaddressed disagreements (“We avoid it… and then it blows up”)

EPIC PERSONA® doesn’t sell you an identity: it reveals a mechanism. In high-stakes moments, what matters is what you protect, what you’re willing to sacrifice, and what makes you react strongly under pressure. EPIC PERSONA® is a strategic compass, not a psychological portrait: a language for acting, making tradeoffs, negotiating, and positioning yourself—not just defining yourself.

2) Our method: narrative to make the implicit visible

The heroes that move you, the characters that inspire you, aren’t chosen at random: they often reflect an ideal, a way you want to be in the world, a stance toward adversity. We often observe the same coherence in our preferences: the same types of figures return, since childhood, because they speak to a role that attracts you—or structures you.

We use narrative language because it makes complex things easy to remember and easy to share. A herotype is not “Who you are”: it is the social role you spontaneously step into when the stakes rise.

You are not your herotype. You use it to explain your action. Our method helps you identify your reflexes, spot your drift under tension, and regain agency. That is also why the result doesn’t gather dust: each herotype has a clear internal coherence—memorable and directly usable. Because how many tests have you taken whose results you’ve already forgotten?

3) Our promise: clarity you can validate

An EPIC PERSONA® result should produce three concrete effects:

  • You should be able to explain, in one simple sentence, how you move into action (without hand-wavy pop psychology).
  • You should understand your predictable tensions (what makes you drift under pressure).
  • You should leave with usable levers: rules, guardrails, routines, and framing phrases.

EPIC PERSONA® is especially useful to:

  • shed light on decisions (stay, leave, challenge, comply, invest, let go)
  • make sense of conflicts (why the same clashes keep happening around the same issues)
  • clarify leadership (how decisions get made, with whom, by which criteria)
  • choose your stance in a project (hold the frame, weave alliance, open up possibilities, protect the line, etc.)

4) Our ethics: no instrumentalization

Many tests avoid the uncomfortable topics: power, loyalty, rules, risk. EPIC PERSONA® addresses them head-on, with one key: there are no “good” or “bad” herotypes. We map resources, constraints, and strategies (what you protect, what you sacrifice)—not virtues and flaws.

Result: we can work on the real issues without judgment or pathologizing.

EPIC PERSONA® is not a weapon to sort, control, or punish. Our non-negotiables—especially in collective settings:

  • explicit consent and a clear, stated use
  • non-disciplinary use: no punitive decision based on a result
  • non-totalizing: a result never summarizes a person; it describes a likely logic in context
  • the right to challenge: the assessment should open discussion, not close it

5) Our aesthetic: form in service of substance

Our aesthetic draws on the heritage of old engravings and cabinets of curiosities: encyclopedias, naturalist plates, symbolic atlases. This imagery evokes observation, memory, long time horizons, and a structured knowledge of reality. It also dialogues with epic storytelling: characters that represent social functions more than moods.

It is an aesthetic of narrative and culture: familiar without being bland. It is not there to decorate, but to make the reading memorable, inhabitable, and shareable.

6) Our invitation: step into the adventure

Taking EPIC PERSONA® means accepting a demanding hypothesis: you can gain freedom by understanding your instinctive mechanisms—not by changing who you are, but by becoming legible.

Classic tests often stop at the individual. EPIC PERSONA® applies to a person, but also to a team, an organization, a brand, even a place: anywhere you must decide, cooperate, hold a line, and manage tension.
